Your best bet would proubly be slightly danted water. But after saying that I must admit I have what I call

a copper/silver bug (2"inch fat grub) that I was throwing this weekend a had fair success in both clear and muddy

water (slightly muddy). Your best bet is find some fish using what ever color and when you start caughting them switch and see what happens.

That's how I test custom made plastic that I have made. You would be surprise what work's. Sometimes all chart,

white, or what ever you can buy cheap at your local chain stores isn't the best. Be different. Yum bait are suppose

to be the hot bait at this time, but I have no ideal how much hipe is behind it.

I usually dont tip the plastics with anything. If I do its usually a chunk of Crawler. If they arent hitting the plastics alone I go to a minnow and try that. If that dont work I may try the plastic and minnow combo but not that often. I find in fairly fast moving river current the eyes dont get a great look at it and hit it out of instinct so live bait isnt always needed. The faster the current and darker the water the more plastics I use.
