NorthWoodsGuy
Looking to buy a 12' flatbottom and would like to know from all you experienced cat people out there the pros and cons of getting a 1232 model vs a 1236. Thanks!
graybeard2
Wider the better. I don't know where you are going to use it, but if your looking at a river or bigger lake, I'd consider either a 14 or 16 footer with a 48" bottom. Much more stable, and a whole lot more room. I've got a 1436, and as soon as I can, I'm getting a wider one. It's just too tippy. If you can find a double wide 12 foot, that mite make a nice one man boat, but there ain't too many of them around that I've seen.
CrappieJohn
I have a 14 with a 42 inch floor. It is a nice rig. Ditto to the comment on wide vs. stability. Years ago I owned a 14 with a 36 inch bottom and you needed to be quite careful in that one. My current Jon I take out on Lake Suerior and troll lake trout on calm days!Jons are a nice boat. If you can get used to the noisiness of them and the fact that they are not as smooth on the water, you'll find that you can get into places other wouldn't dare even trying. NorthWoodsGuy
Thanks for the advice guys. With what you both have told me and what research I've already done, I think it's a 1442 or a 1448 for me. Now, where can I find a good used one?!?!
