Dog chewing on carpet!

OK. I've got a Black Mouth Cur that is 5 months old. I keep her in her kennel while I'm gone at work. The problem is that at night, she sleeps in my room. I put about 5-6 toys in there for her & she still chews holes in my carpet while I'm sleeping! The previous owners had cats, so I'm wondering if the cats smell is still in the carpet? I would kennel her at night, but that's just too much time in the kennel for 1 day. Is there any sprays out there to deter her from chewing on the carpet? She seems to leave everything else alone though.

best thing I found for deturing dogs from chewing on things is tabasco sauce. A little dap will do ya!

I would do that, but I've only caught her in the act once. She always does this when I'm sleeping. I guess, I could lock her up in the laundry room at night.
