MJR
I think I have read some post that you fish Minnetonka and Vermilion? Is that the case? Those are pretty much the only lakes I fish.
Down to Earth
MJR,Minnetonka is probably the lake I get out to fish muskies the most, though living in Rochester its hard to get up there often. I usually like to take a few days off during the summer and fish it mid week. September being my favorite time. I've been up a couple occasions on a weekend and have been pretty much run off the water by 10am during the summer. Its hard water to fish in a 14' Lund out there when you have all the power boats buzzing past you. My other "home' water I guess would be French over in Faribault. Like most I don't get out near as often as I would like. This is going to be my third attempt at getting up to Vermilion. Two years ago, I was planning to attend the Fall Musky outing at VDL in October. Unfortunately home building didn't go quite as smooth as hoped and I had to cancel. Last year I signed up for Lake Vermilion Musky School only to have it cancelled due to lack of interest. I'm hoping to sign up again this year. When I go up I plan to look around at some resorts, find a good one and hopefully make it up for somewhat yearly trips. If your ever on the lookout for a boat partner on TONKA let me know and I'll and make a trip up.Andy
MJR
I live right across the street from Tonka. I have been fishing it for about 4 years mostly for bass but I have caught enough muskies out there to where I am planning on starting to target them more. Tonka does suck on the weekends but if it is raining no one will be out there and the fishing is generally well worth the soaking. I believe the PMMT is coming there in Oct. I definately would be up for an outing this summer, I am a bit of a novice at muskie fishing but I have a few areas where I know they live.My parents have a place on Vermilion on the east end in pike bay. They have had it for just over a year and I had never fished it prior to them buying it. I usually take the muskie setup with but I have had a hard time getting past the smallies and the walleyes. I think we have gotten 2 muskies there both off of the dock in my avatar if you can imagine.
