i had the same question and emailed Garmin. they have a CD you can get for about 15-20 bucks and then you are able to hook your GPS up to your computer and stick in waypoints. i know you can do this for the legend but i'm not 100% sure about the Etrex. try emailing Garmin, they'll give you a for sure answer.

I have an E-Trex as well. I found a program on the net from topografix (dot) com. they have a free version or an inexpensive upgraded version. I have been able to go into the program and pinpoint spots on it and upload the waypoints to my Garmin or Magellan with no problems.

There are a couple free programs on the internet.

EasyGPS and OziExplorer

Either one will talk to your Garmin. OziExplorer will let you calibrate any scanned map image as long as there is 2 points on it with coords.

I you go to find and then click waypoints and click any one of them you can use your scroll button on the front to scroll down to change the name and way points to what ever you want to.then click ok or go to.
