Jiffy Gas Auger Operation

As a gas auger newbie, I was wondering how the clutching works on my Jiffy 3 hp model 30. Is it designed to slip when "in deep" or should it keep turning as long as the RPM's are kept up?

The clutch shouldn't slip. If it is, give a couple quick lifts while its rotating to clear the ice chips out.

Some older augers have a tendency to grab real hard when you start to break through the bottom. You wind up having to kinda ease your way through if that is the case. If it is a new one, It may be that it is still breaking in, I know my new auger said it could be upto 2 hours of use before the clutch is broken in and at full grabbing power.
