Fishing around Hastings

Fish Forever

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have some suggestions about a fun lake to fish near Hastings. So far I've been to Ravine and Isabelle. Ravine is fun to fish but everything is so small. And last weeekend I tried Isabelle and caught only 5 small sunnies. I have looked at Rebecca several times but everyone I've talked to this year says it has really shut down. I've also read many posts from local's about backwater locations but I keep hearing "watch out for the springs". Well if I've never been to the backwaters it might be quite tough for me to NOT fall through. Any suggstions would be great. All I want is a lake close by with huge fish and no one else on the lake, is that asking to much?

Just out of curiosity. Why do you want to fish near Hastings? I am from Hastings and head in your direction to go fish for panfish. Walleye I go to the Vermillion river south of town (Sorry I can't really tell you where in front of all these people). wink.gif

There is some real good fishing around Lakeville and Burnsville that is half the distance for you to travel.

Actually I moved to Hastings last summer. Greten Lane. Guess I should change my loc. on my signature. But I do currently work in Apple Valley. The reason I like to stay near Hastings is a good fishing buddy lives in Woodbury and hates driving to Lakeville to fish. -wus- I have heard so much about the vermillion river I wish I could hook up with one of you guys some time. I know you don't want to give up your hot spot but any tips would be greatly appreciated. Now when you talk about the vermillion are you inferring below Hastings? I tried to get to clear lake this summer but kept getting stuck. What do you look for when river fishing? Bends? inside or outside? Where would the ice be thin on the river? Sorry about the list of questions but I've never river fished in my life. It's even hard for me to figure out the St. Croix in the summer.
