abens1078
Which hooks provide the best hookups on a dropper rig? I was able to watch the Perch inhale my minow, hold it for a 3 count and still not hook up every time. I was maybe catching 1 in 5 hits. I varried everything from how long I let the fish hold the bait to how hard I set the hook. I was given plenty of opportunity but I couldn't close the deal. We ended up with a few nice Perch but it should have been better as the fish were active when the schools came through. The hook was the one thing I didn't change. I used the trebble hook that came with the spoon I was using. So to save myself some frustration I wanted to find out if anyone could recomend a size or style of hook that might provide better results than what I was getting.abens1078
fiskyknut
I use dropper rigs alot on the LOTW. Go-devils are one of my favorite lures for these rigs. Best hook I've found is the Kahle style in size 6 for Perch and Walleye. I use Eagle claws Lazer sharps in red or gold.

say_der
What exactly is a dropper rig?
abens1078
I am new at these as indicated above but I use any Spoon type of lure, Pimples and Wobbelers to name a few, and I remove the hook from the split ring. I then attach 8" of Mono to the split ring and reattach the hook to the mono 'dropper.' You get the attraction of the lure but that bait is still out there on its own looking quite vulnerable. You can make the dropper as long or short as you want, it just depends how much freedom you want the minow to have. I have also seen people use this method to attach two teardrop jigs together for panfish.
colt44
Hang a #8 or #10 Gamakatsu single on there. You will notice a rise in hookups %.
say_der
I'm pretty sure it's illegal to use two tear drops on the same line.
