Midseason Walleyes

Recommended Posts

Where does everyone search for midseason walleyes? Are they in the weeds or rock piles. Or would it be better to go to drop offs, or deep holes? I have a hard time finding them, I mostly fish Osakis and any help would be appreciated as where to go or what to try.

Not sure if this helps, but I have been catching 8-12 per evening in 21 FOW on a sharp drop off. Same place they were this fall. Lots of jumbo perch mixed in as well. I am not sure how long the bite will hold, but thats where they are now. In short, I would say that if you know where they were biting before ice up, you should be safe to hit that same area now, expecially right at sunset. They have been very aggressive this year for me. Good luck!

Im still looking for walleyes, pretty new to ice fishing and not sure if i should be looking shallow or deep or by humps or dropoffs, or flats. Just would like some suggestions or info on where would be some good places to try. Thanks

In general...I've been fishing 18-25'. If you're having problems catching fish I'd also make sure you're fishing the sunup sundown times. Sometimes you may be in the right place but at the wrong time. As my name implies I fish Leech a lot and the 7:30am-8:30 and 4:30-5:45 pm times are almost the only times you'll catch more than one fish. One fish kind of being a fluke and more than one means your in the right place and the right time. You can try deeper but I don't like too deep because the fish have a harder time when you release them. The above are general starting points.
