riverrat56
Who had there first experience ice fishing in the rain today? it was a first for me and it was rather creepy sitting on a frozen lake and having rain pelt the top of my fish house. metrojoe
I sat out in the rain ice fishing for the first time last year. It was early March and it just poured for about ten minutes then it just lightly rained off and on until the afternoon. It was a strange experience. Couldn't complain about the fishing though. PerchJerker
We had it happen to us on Winnie at the end of Feb about 4 years ago. The rain came down like crazy for a day - too wet/cold to fish outside, and the rain soaked the portable houses. The next day was warm/windy enough that the water and snow melt didn't freeze - in some places there were whitecaps on top of the ice. All the holes had water rushing down into them, whirlpools, foam, and the holes got bored out to about twice their original size. Finally by the 3rd day the ice dried off and got cold enough to refreeze. Pretty interesting trip.
