MDC114
I am thinking of heading to Bay DeNoc in mid-January to fish for walleyes. Has anyone ever been there??? Is it worth it?? Any information on where to stay, where to fish would be appreciated. Thanks. MDC
slick814
Bay De Noc & Little Bay De Noc are both great walleye waters. There's a few motels in Escanaba/Gladstone area that are right on the shore of Lake Michigan. Unfortunately I can't think of any other than the Pioneer Inn in Esky, which is in town, but a decent Best Western. There's also a casino/hotel about 10 miles up the road in a small town called Bark River. As far as where to fish, there's a bait shop in downtown Esky, and another on the way to Gladstone, both of which are pretty good about giving good information as to where the fish have been biting and what's been working. I'd be prepared for some ice fishing like you've never had it before if you get onto fish. I went a few times 2 years ago, and had a blast every time! Oh.. and don't forget to practice your "Yooper" talk.. eh?

slick814
MDC - Beau would be someone to talk to. Heck he lives right there... Beau, what's the name of the resort between Esky & Gladstone? I know that they do charters in summer, but can't remember the name of the place. Oh, and the cafe that's not too far from it too.. good solid meals for the price. I never could finish a garbage omlet...

slick814
Yup.. Delona is the one. AWESOME breakfasts. As far as the drive. Depends on where in the cities and which way you go. I'd personally recommend taking 94 East to 29. 29 to Green Bay, and then I believe it's 40 to M35.... take you about 6 - 6 1/2 hours or so. You could also take Highway 8 through Forest Lake, etc.. but it'll add about 1 - 2 hours of travel time, as it's all 2 lane roads.
