Don In Denver
How has Lake John been fishing this year? Is this going to be another one of those great Lake John ice fishing years with lots of big fish??
davey crockett
John's been fishing great this year. Because of little winter kill the last 2 winters, the average size is pretty decent-14-20". The larger ones all seem to be rainbows, though there are a lot more cutts. I hope that it freezes hard soon. I've got to have a knee replacement the end of Dec., and that'll pretty much end ice fishing for me this winter. Also, the water level's higher this year than I've ever seen it-running over the spillway, which bodes well for no winter kill this year.Last year I caught an almost 5# bow, so there are a few larger fish in there still. John19
This lake has got to be one of the best for #'s and size, especially at first ice! Some of the fattest trout I've ever seen. Make sure your drags are set right at this one! Have never fished Delaneys though. Anyone got any info about this one???
sledfreak
Hey John, The Delaneys are for patient fisherman who arent interested in numbers but size, only caught 4 fish out of North D. last year in 6 trips, but the smallest one was 23" and the biggest 29". Good things come to thoes who wait.
