2001 25 hp mercury

my dad just bought this 25 hp mercury and cant figure how to turn down the idle speed he would like to troll cranks with it but can only get motor to troll at 3 to 4mph would like to get it down to 1.7 to 2.0 does anybody know where the idle adjustment is on this motor???

I have a year 2000 25 hp merc and there is a fast idle mechanism built into the primer knob. Are you sure you have that turned down to base idle . the knob is not labeled that it has that you need to read it in the owners manual . to start motor turn the primer knob clockwise all the way this sets the fast idle then pull out and and push in on knob then pull out again , start motor then push knob in , as engine warms up turn primer knob clockwise and the idle will come down , this is a great feature for late in the season . might want to check that to see if it's working o.k.
