Cedar wood

Marmot

Question

This is most likely a stupid question... confused.gif

I am wondering if cedar is appropriate to burn in an indoor fireplace. Does it produce much heat? Is it dirty to burn?

I have a connection to get scrap cedar posts from a furniture manufacturer. The cedar is not brush or rotten, it just does not meet the standard required for furniture. Most of the cedar posts are blemished, crooked, or cracked.

You can burn cedar, but, be careful, keep an eye on the soot build up in your chimney. The pitch from the pines get very sticky and is easily attached to the pipe. I have burned pine many of times, wonderful aroma!
