SCUMFROG
I'm thinking about getting into deer hunting next year and would like to know what are the advantages of a tree stand verses sitting on a fallin tree or in a chair?
Deitz Dittrich
The advantages are a few of different things.. #1 it takes you out of the field of view of the deer. Most of thier predators are on the ground, so they arent all that used to looking in trees for predators... #2 it helps in keeping your human scent up and above the deer so they have less a chance of smelling you, this still does not allow you to hunt carelessly just helps... #3 it often times allows you to see a larger amount of area. however there are times becuase of leaves that you acually see worse from a tree stand. #1 for me is the most important! ikes71
Like the previous post said, there are some good advantages, from hunting in a treestand. I hunt on both private and public land, and a good climbing stand has been priceless. I can hunt the usual areas, but when I want to try some place new, just throw it on my back and away I go. bigbucks
I'd pretty much have to agree with the 3 listed, as being the big ones. You have a much better chance of seeing a deer coming before it sees you in most cases as well, as long as your still & quiet, if you aren't than it's worse than the ground.
