I have the slt and it has a button you can push to change frequency to eliminate interference from another sonar unit.Other than that i don't think there is any other differences. personally I would go new, you would have a fresh tranducer and new unit, and dollar per year of use would be cheaper.

The SE has the new display that is easier to read in the bright sun. Other then that it is basically the same as the SLT.

The SE will also work great on the boat. If you get one it pays to get a boat mount kit too so you get 4 season use from the unit. The kit will have a high speed transducer or a in-hull mount ducer depending on what your choice is. Plus all the mounting hardware needed so all you need to do is pop it off and on when needed.

If you used a SLT in the past, and liked it, you will love the SE.

Consider getting the Ultra Pack case for your SE. The new case will run you $32, it is very cool. You can order them from Vex direct. Take a look at the Ultra Pack case once and see what you think.
