Aquaman01
Spent a weekend up there a couple of weeks ago.Close to a public launch (Mississippi River) with parking for 5-8 vehicles/trailers. The launch is in a lagoon, so launching into current isn't a problem. The bait shop in town is one of the gas stations on hwy 27 - look for the BAIT sign. There's also a guy on the road to the park who sells crawlers for $1 a doz. No forageing for firewood is allowed - buy there or bring your own. Theirs is good - oak, poplar, birch (no pine). The soil is sandy, so bring a doormat for your tent and stakes that will grab sand. The water is treated, so it's good to drink, but bad for bait.Proximity to town is about 1 mile.Pike Creek did not seem to hold fish. Only complaint - They let small RVs into the tent sites, so I had to put up with TVs and generators once in a while, but that's a part of State Parks, I suppose. ------------------Aquaman<')}}}}}><{Peace and Fishes
