Drinking in Canada

Recommended Posts

Yep it is true. I am heading up to Lac Seul in 10 days and the only time that you can have boose in the boat is when you are transporting from the launch to the lodge if you have to boat in. It's not that people don't do it, but if you get caught it is a fairly hefty fine per can.

Take care,

SUNNYD

Does this law apply for a house boater? I was planning on getting a RABC for my next house boat vacation and I will have a bottle of wiskey for me and my wife. My friends will have a couple of cases of beer also.

I do not know the regs about booze on a houseboat but we have done a few houseboat trips in the past and have had no trouble for the CO's, nor have any of the outfitters made mention of our beer as it is loaded on the boat.

If I had the regulations here I could tell you, but my recollection is that a houseboat is treated differently but you best check the regs.

The regs talk about having a compartment built to store alcohol of which your various storage in a normal boat is not. A houseboat has a refrigerator etc.
