boomerlarry
A bunch of us went to Lac Seul 8-6 thru 8-9 and did real well. We caught walleyes from 10 feet to 35 feet. Our biggest was 26" We also caught 2- 10lb. northern pike, but lost bigger ones that cut our line. They were grabbing the walleyes on the way in. We used jigs and crawlers mostly, but just a jig and a Berkely Gulp worked extremely well. they even caught some of the bigger fish. <*))))))))>< Can't wait to go back
hockeysales
Was at Mahkwa from 8/1 to 8/6. Caught lots of walleyes, mainly in 20-30 feet of water. Used jigs, however I would recommend bringing with some crawler harnesses and obviously crawlers. They weren't grabbing the jigs and holding like in years past. Switched to harness and worked much better. One of the boats in our group almost exclusively used them.Try on either side of the ferry crossing, and the island just past Windigo (wear there is a decent beach and huge sandbar). Hope you have good weather.Chris
Benny
Thanks people, we are leaving Grand Rapids at 2PM Saturday.Staying over night at Dryden so we can be fishing by 8 AM or so.We had great luck last year on that island , also the next two further west.Eagle isle is a hot spot on the North side in the big boulders area. The small bay directly across from the resort has lots of cabbage weeds so it turns out lots of big pike each year.Along the North side of that same point along the island the main village is on is hot for pike as well.We fished the ferry crossing a few times, had good luck by the bouys.Got to whach for the under water rock piles if the water level is down. There are two piles on the south side of the big island toward the ferry crossing.Bananatine point is good but a 13 mile ride to get there.Benny
Benny
Well we hit the coldest week of fishing at Lac Suel ever for our group.I hit a rock reef that was marked wrong so I lost my prop and shaft right on the first day, we had 4 boats and 9 guys so we just fished 3 per boat. The fishing was tuff, we found enough to eat but we always wait till the last day to get our fish to bring home.Well that didn't work out this year, we awoke to 50 mile an hour winds and 8 foot swells.Took the first opertunity we could to tow my crippled boat back and load it on the trailer, then fished for about three hours and only caught 9 fish to bring home out of 21 we could have.Oh well , next year will be better.Benny
