Hambone42
I will be fishing in the Red Lake area in the middle of June. We are thinking of trying some laker action a couple of days.Does anyone know what kind of gear/tackle we should bring? Do we need downriggers? We have never fished lakes in the summer.Any help would be great! Thanks.
MuskyBrian
Downriggers are not needed at all. Fish the Main lake Reefs anywhere from 35-60 feet of water adjacent to deeper water. We used to fish a rig that would have our line tied to a bottom bouncer, and then tied to that at least 24" of combined line and leader with a hook. Then get the biggest minnows you can find. Plop that down on the reefs and either drift it or backtroll it into the waves.Good Luck
Hambone42
Kind of sounds like walleye fishing with a lindy rig. What do you use, about 20# test line? Thanks
