Sorry guys.... But today the boss gave us the afternoon off!! It's supposed to be 54 degrees today - warmest day for the next week. I'm picking up my flyrod and heading to elevenmile canyon for some winter flyfishing this afternoon. Tim

Did pretty well! It was just gorgeous up in the canyon. My normal fishing hole was occupied, went to the back up hole - taken... A Lot of fisherman. Went downstream to a hole right next to the road. Pounded them all afternoon on a size 22 Black Beauty and a tan RS2. Landed around 12 -15 fish from 12" to 18"... Lot's of fun on the 3 weight rod... Oh well!!! Time to get back out on the ice!! Tim

I'll tell you what, I have been rally surprised at the quality of fishing at Boyd....good solid ice and a plethera of fishing oppertunities, ie, rainbows, yellow perch, crappie, both basses, and walleyes if you can find them. You can offload your equipment right at the ice edge, and park your vehicle at the parking lot, I had a lot of success with Good healthy rainbows in the 3-4 pound class, with waxies and 1 1/2" pink tubes in 16 feet of water. It is close to where I live and seems to be better fishing and the traffic is a lot better than the high country. but of course no Macks.

Hope this helps

Good Fishing

behmer, I could not agree more about boyd. I fished Boyd today and had good success.
Thanks to the tip about those pink jigs from someone on this board. The guy next to me wasn't having the best of luck, so when I left I gave him a jig, and within 5 min. he had a fish. So it was a good day of fishing all the way around. If I could only find those eyes?

I haven't seen a perch all year, been trying to fing those walleyes though and have yet to locate any, I think that they must be staying really deep until well after dark then coming shallow to feed, just can't seem to be there when they go shallow.

I can't believe it, no perch! To get to Boyd, all ya have to do is follow the signs. Get off of I-25 @ highway 34, west towards loveland. You'll take a right just past the albertson's (I forgot the name of the street). Take this about 2 1/2 miles then you'll turn right. (once again, follow the signs!) about a mile and your in the park. It's easy to find! I need to start drowning some minnows a few nights here, see if we can't locate some eyes, I know they're in there, just gotta find them. It's fun catching trout, but I prefer white meat!

As for bait all you really need is waxies, mealies, and I had some fairly good luck dead sticking two fire balls on a tear drop about 1 foot off the bottom.

I park at the boat ramp, and start walking away from the inlet approx 500 yards in 16 feet of water and that was it. You will see alot of people in the inlet but i personally never fished there, I like the idea of being away from everyone
