Just got back from a day at DeWeese.
First time at this res. very pretty. We did better than we have all season at 11 mile. Fished out in deep water about 15 to 20 feet deep.
Got a bunch of small rainbows, one had "big" teeth marks on it, Hey DOW didn't think there were northerns in these waters. The guy next to us told us there are muskies in there. Anyone know for sure?

Hey Fishvince01,

Do you by chance have a black shelter/wood sled and was your daughter with you that day? Were you fishing near the dam in the afternoon? (The reason I ask is cause we had a conversation with a guy about his beat up trout and muskies)

If so I was with the group of 3 guys near the North-east corner of the dam. We had a great time over three days and between the three of us caught about 130 fish....no joke! havent ice fished like that in a long time, thought about going to skagway on that Monday but ended up fishing Deweese again for the morning. They were hitting on green powerbait or crawlers. Using tube gigs and glow in the dark jigs. Most were small but fun. anyways probably wont be back down there till next year.

Hey HK-LN-SNKR

Yup that was us, I was with my dad and sister. We did get an answer from the state that they did stock the lake with muskies.

We did better at Deweese than any other res. this winter in Colorado.
Fished Skagway the next morning and didn't catch any trout, only saw one get caught all day out of about 40 people out on the ice.
My dad missed 2 hits on the tip-ups.

thanks for writting and my dad said to say thanks for the conversation on and off the ice. Good Luck!

Is there much action on the Muskies through the ice? If so, where is the action, what are they catching them on etc? Also, where is the trout action? Thanks!

Dave:

I will be at Deweese on the 7th. I will have the black Pelsue telecom tent. I'm trying to find out about the Muskies. I will at least use a tipup with a dead sucker...there are a boat load of suckers in there.

Gilles:

Those are real specific directions and areas... all you missed was the north side. I'm gonna try by the dam. I'm taking a first time hardwater guy with me hope he does well!

You know what I thought you would find that amusing. Actually the lake isn't that big and there isn't a bad spot for trout on the whole thing. Around the dam usually is good for alot of folks. As for trying to find a musky I couldn't tell you where to begin because I've never heard of any coming out but they are there. Good Luck and post your results.

SW.. We fished til about 2:45. We were in the area the DOW lady told us to fish. Were the fish suspended or on the bottom? Ours were just below the ice 2-5 ft.
