Sylvan

I was wondering if any of you have fished Sylvan Res. in the winter, it's south of Eagle? And if so how did you do? I'm thinking it might already be frozen. I've had fair luck there in the past.

Have you ice fished Sylvan in the past? I've heard it's really pretty there and that there are some nice fish to be had. What can you tell us about it??? In particular about the ice fishing. Thanks.

Don, it's very pretty in that area. I have fished Sylvan both in the summer months and the winter. I find the ice at Sylvan really strange. You can have 18"-26" of solid ice plus 2-3" of slush on top of it. I've taken some nice "bows" out of Sylvan and some guys have taken some nice "browns" also. I think it mostly gets fished by the locals. It can get fairly cold, but, what the heck your ice fishing. Hope I gave you some info you can use. A small ice jig (silver with a orange dot) has proved to worked. Good luck.

A couple more questions. Do they keep the road in to Sylvan plowed in the winter? What size fish do you see from there on average? How deep is the lake? Thanks again.

Don, the road crew keeps the road plowed pretty well right up to the lake. Most of the "bows" I've taken have been in the 16"-20" range fat and pink. I usually fish in 9-13'
