Any info on GPS'?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,
I'm saving my dimes and quarters and looking to buy a quality GPS. I want to be able to download maps onto it...mark spots on a lake...and get me out of the woods. Does anyone have any knowledge on these units?
Thanks,
Mitch

I have the Garmin 72. If you want a mapping unit I would suggest one of the 76 series. They pick up satelites quickly, hold them in some pretty good cover and are very user friendly. The e-trex series is also a good one, however, the display screen is a little smaller. I think you get more bang for your buck with the 76's. I used to sell GPS's at a major outdoor retailer in Owatonna. I would say go to a store that sells a variety of brands and ask to go outside with a salesperson and have them show you the different features of each. Make sure you go outside because most buildings, other than houses and the like, will not be able to let a GPS recieve a signal inside.
