Anyone here about Halets in Ames?

Some of my fondest childhood memories are catching 1lb+ crappies on Halets and then getting chased all the way back to my Aunt's house by the secuirity gaurds. I here that they have started building a boat ramp and bike path and will open up in the spring to electrics only. Great new for the Ames area! Can't wait to hit that thing for some Craps.

Plus I have always wanted to kow how deep that thing was.

I was just bye there today looks really nice the re-did the whole shoreline. On the north pond the boat ramp is in and the parking lot has been blacktopped already. It is on the north side of Ames on hwy 69.

Yeah, they have been doing a ton of work up there for the last year or so. I think they realized people are going to use it anyway and decided to "safen" it up for the public. On trips up to the skunk river I drive past and it looks nice. I think they said something about opening it up officially to the public like next spring or something. Not sure if that is totally accurate, but that is what my limited memory is telling me. Never been there myself, but heard many good things about it.
