vitt
I am thinking about taking a canoe trip to NE Iowa. Does anyone know the condition of the rivers? I think they had some heavy rain earlier in the week so I assume they are high and muddy. Will they be back to normal by early next week if we get no more rain?I am hoping to catch some Smallmouth and Walleye. Any recommendations on a river? I was thinking about the Wapsi. Thanks for the help,Mike[This message has been edited by Rick (edited 07-24-2003).]
supserdave
Hey VittI live up this way, and we havent got to much rain, its all been south. I know for a fact that the upper iowa and turkey are both in good shape, im not sure about the wapsi or cedar. Im heading up to the upper iowa on sunday for a little canoe/fishing trip. If you have any more questions let me know.[This message has been edited by Rick (edited 07-24-2003).]

supserdave
I got to fish the upper iowa for an hour or two today. Caught a lot of smallies, but mostly small. The darn mooneyes wouldnt leave my spinners alone either. Water level was normal, with fair clarity.
vitt
Thanks for the information. I going to the Wapsi on Sat. I might try the Turkey River next Monday or Tuesday. Dave do you fish the Turkey River much? Would you recomend it?Thanks,Mike
supserdave
The turkey is a good stream to fish, lots of smallies. But if you want to canoe it i would stick below Eldorado, just cuz upstream it is almost to shallow.
