I have yet to get mine out, but every time I see my FL18 in the bow of my boat I wish it was sitting on hard water. Favorite place to get jigs...hrm....hsolist is where I have gotten some of my best bulk deals I guess. I have gotten some really cool little jigs over the years here. It is hit and miss, but this time of year you can get some better deals as most sane people have their thoughts far removed from the hard water. I also have gotten great deals at some of the fishing shows in Des Moines, but have to wait until Dec for them frown.gif

I am with you guys on the hard water season. It never comes and allways leaves to early. Well I have also gotten jigs on hsolist. What do you guys use for a ice house? I built one a few years a go and loved it but last fall I traded suburbans from a 85 to a 94 and it is a 1/2 inch to wide so in desperratio I bought a frabill speed shack XL its good if you can drive on the ice not to good if you must pull through snow. I am looking at getting a frabill triplex this fall. Any comments would be good thanks in advance. OH buy the way I have been to brushy and caught a few perch one eye kind of slow well GOOD LUCK ...

As far as an ice house, I built one about 4 years ago that I used up until last year when it finally started to lose some of its splendor. I now own two...just got a one man flip up (thanks bcon!) for one man treks and bought a BIG shappell 4000 last year...holds 4 people pretty comfortably! The Shappell has skis so it pulls easy. The frabills are nice, but some of those smaller ones are tall for their size, making them very succeptible to the wind. I know a couple guys that own them and love them, but they do complain of the wind being a big factor on how much they use it.

Me and my buddy own two Sharpell 4000's. Once you sit two guys in one of these, you get spoiled in a hurry! When four of us go, we take both of 'em and set'em side by side with doors butting against each other. It's about the size of my living room at home when we do that!

Now that would be the way to go! Thought the 4000 alone was like a hotel on ice....put two together it would be more like a Hilton on ice! Now I need to find a friend with one to try that out! There is almost a fall feel to the air....its getting me anxious!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
