Velvet

Last sunday my buddy, with help from the local sheriff, got a six point buck. Nice looking buck with velvet. He has cut off the antlers, and would like to do a skull mount. But we're wondering it there anyway to keep the velvet on, or should he somehow get it off?

Call a taxidermist and they will be able to tell you what to put on the velvet so it doesnt *shed*.. or basicly rot off. I cant remember what the product is called, and have no idea where to get it on a retail level.

If you look up taxidermy supplies on a search engine you may find one with an online catalog that carries the product you need.. cant hurt to look.

Your best bet is to call a taxidermist .. they may have some on hand.
