csprau
Does anyone know of some carp waters that I can go to with my fly rod within an hour or less of Emily, MN?
Roughfisher
Well, you could drive east on 3 until you hit the Mississippi near Palisade, there are almost certainly some carp to be had there. Or head south to Mille Lacs, maybe fish the Rum River where it goes under 169 south of Garrison? Or if it's allowed you can fish near the weir right at the mouth. Tons of huge carp there. Beyond that, not sure, few of the lakes in the area have carp, look for some of the smaller rivers like the Crow Wing or Pine River maybe? Just a few thoughts, hope this helps. Toad
Boom Lake in Brainerd (an oxbow off the Miss) holds gigantocarp. Few days ago, watched a herd of big boys "clooping" for floating cottonwood seeds. Time to break out the #10 White Wulff.-a friend called Toad

Doop
There are some big carp in Mille Lac for sure but no one in that area is willing to offer much advice. I was there last summer and was NOT impressed with the people at all. Almost everyone I spoke was very rude. I'm sure that isn't true of everyone in that area....but I did NOT have a good experience there. Stay away. Mississippi backwaters would be a good place to start!
