Roughfisher
There are a couple of good spots in and around Anoka - two rivers park is good, you might also catch shorthead and golden redhorse there. There is a boat launch on the Rum that produces a lot of carp. The best though is the Anoka Federal Dam right in downtown Anoka. You can catch them there by fishing nightcrawlers or corn on the bottom, but they also come up and rise to dry flies when the white mayflies hatch . Just about any section of the Mississippi in the area will be good.Your bass tackle sounds about right - carp in your area will usually be between 6 and 14 pounds. Use a hook about size 4, and a fixed weight about a foot up the line. Still-fish it right on the bottom. You can lean your pole on a rail or stick, or just hold it. Carp will hit hard and could drag your rod into the water if you aren't paying attention. Good luck!
huskiesplayer15
Never really fished for carp, but was wondering where I should go, planned on using a medium heavy bass rod, or would i be better off going with a spinning rod? What type of lures do you use? plain hooks and sinkers? bobbers? Really lost but sound like fun.Best FishesChris
