tulikow
I love smoked tulibees and I would like to start catching some. What are some good techniques to use? What would be a good lake to try?Any help is greatly appreciated
Guest
LOW has a lot of tulibees. Use a small spoon tipped with a minnow head or maggots. Or else a search lure and a horizontal jig packed maggots. I got into a few tulibees last February on LOW while fishing for walleyes, they put up a fight too! hogsucker
My family has always gone up to Mille Lacs for some red-hot tulibee action at late-ice. When conditions are right and the bite is on, literally thousands of anglers will be out on the "tulibee spot" just out from FM-Millelacs's, parallel parked along the roads out on the lake. Three or four people can get a dozen each or so in an aftrnoon's fishing no problem, without the aid of any electronics. I would reccomend a flasher spoon/dropper rig for best results, actually one in each hand simultaneously. The flash created by the spoons will draw in schools from a distance, and everyone in the group will get a couple before they move on. Experiment with depth, because they can be found anywhere in the watrer column, even scraping thier backs on the underside of the ice. Use a maggot to tip your dropper, I use a pheasant-tail nymph for my hook on the dropper. And boy, are tulibees good smoked! Good luck. ~hogsucker
Crawlerman
I heard a rumor that they stock them in Lake Elmo. Anyone know if this is true or not?
