Aquaman01
My son (4) added a double-digit entry to his life-list today. Little Falls Dam, inflow side by the train tracks, 34" long x 23" girth Carp, and if the conversion chart is to be believed - 17 lbs. With him at 46 lbs, the scale equivelant would be me catching a 52 lb. fish. Played and landed on a 4 1/2 foot medium rod, ultralight reel and 3/10 braid. My biggest of the day was 33" x 22". Crawler onna bottom, #2 circle kahle, 1 oz. no-roll, small swivel.------------------Aquaman<')}}}}}><{Peace and Fishes
vern
Wow! That's a monster for a 4 year old. That's a big carp for the upper Mississippi too. Way to go! He'll be a fisherman for life I'm sure. I'm going to take my 4 year old nephew out for the first time in the next week or so. Should be fun. Vern

Aquaman01
He's in for life, I'm sure! Instead of bedtime stories - he wants Q & A regarding fishing info! No pics, but we know the spot. He got his first carp there last year - 5 or 6 lber, I think. If anyone is headed up that way, ya find the railroad tracks on the west wide of the river at the dam, and go stand on the corner area of the little timber sea-wall. Cast at the big tree by the power plant and hopefully get within 15' of the far shore. Wait, with a free spool/open bail.I've also caught rock bass in there.------------------Aquaman<')}}}}}><{Peace and Fishes

Aquaman01
Don't know if anyone read it on the Minnesota River forum - Carver Cat Gathering, but my boy (now 5) brawled another brute - 32" 11.75 lb. - with 5 grown men cheering him on in the dark by campfire light. That's one happy boy!I'm so glad nobody has ever had the poor judgement to say "aw, just a carp" in front of him. He's really proud of these battles as well he should be. Not many of us catch & land solo a fish 1/5 our weight - TWICE in one season. Crawler onna bottom - 1.5 oz. no-roll, 2/0 circle hook on a swiveled leader. 6/20 braid on dad's walleye rod.I, however, got skunked in my evening's kitty quest. ------------------Aquaman<')}}}}}><{"The bow is set to distant shore, then loss is gained and gains once more. When beach is reached and sails are torn, the journey is it's own reward."
