Fished a local Lake Erie Harbor

A couple of weeks ago it was not uncommon to get 30 to 50 of these jumbo's, but has slowed down a little bit with the recent thaw and rain, should be firming back up soon, and will be hitting Lake Erie by the weekend for walleye!

One of my favorite jigs when it comes to perch and crappie are silver jigs, or small spoons with silver backs. Actually the same can be said about walleye too. The silver seems to work best with fish that are attracted to minnows as their main forage. Spikes work always, sometimes just a torn off minnow head works best. If the fish are aggressive or just in a moderate feeding mode, rarely is a whole minnow required.

Going to hit Lake St. Clair for some gills on Saturday, but still going to give Erie a shot Friday and hopefully Sunday, 12 lbers are coming up through the ice now.

Sweet and crappies to boot

Yeppers, the seeds and crappie was what I really wanted to hook into, its not like I don't get enough perch and walleye in the freezer, live off Lake Erie lol. The spot just has not produced the specs like the past few years, but then again, the perch have been a pleasant surprise this year!
