CaptainMusky
Handlebar ram mount is what I use for my hds 7. Love it. No issues whatsoever.
LakeDocktor
I have found that the Ram handlebar 1" mount isn't strong enough to support a Lowrance HDS 7. This season, I have added 2 handlebar mounts for added stability and it is rock solid!
Esox_Magnum
I have a Vex pack to mount my HDS units to, sits on the rack on the quad and still mobile if I need it when I cant use the quad...

I even use a 12" mount which would make it it have more leverage to move. I have gone barreling across the lake and doesn't move.Is the 1" the smaller one? Whatever size mine is its the middle one. Charlie Mason
I have a HDS-5m on the handlebar of the quad with the 1" Ram mount, four years now, no issues. Key is to install the inline fuse to protect the unit. Have seen some that didn't and ruined their unit
Coryy
Just a thought, do you own a smartphone? These units will allow you to run GPS as well as you can buy the Navionics App that has all the US and Canada maps for $15. This kills two birds. I am running the app for this years ice, but I am also hoofing it and not running a machine.
