Pat_Rodger
Hi Everyone Today I started to spool line on my ice rod's. One of the most important part of any rod weather it be a open or hard water rod is the line guides. I feel it is also one of the most neglected parts. Just a reminder to check your line guide's for any imperfection's. From nick's to being offset or ready to just fall off now is the time to make sure you have a successful time on the ice. If your guide(s) has a nick in it take a piece of fine sandpaper and smooth it out. Some pre season maintenance may help you put that trophy on your wall. Corey Bechtold
Very true Pat! A lot of times people think they got a bad spool of line when they have breakages. Fact is a tiny rough spot on a guide or other imperfections can wreak havoc on line. Good fishing, Corey Bechtold
Eric_Kruger
This is something that can be replaced most often for a buck or two, some thread and epoxy. If there is an imperfection, that cant be fixed by sanding, cut off the guide and wrap on a new one.. super easy to do and all the info can be found on this site in the rod building / tackle making forum.
