Hawg
My guess is the posting was stopped because it started to be a war between a SM paid person/rep/mgr and a Clam rep/paid person. Bottom line is SM is not the friendly little place in Big Lake but Normark is not the friendly litte Ron W business of the past either. Both are good reputable companies that produce pretty good products and we need all of them for a small nitch market like ice fishing, private individuals have a very tough time getting a new product to market no matter how good they are. We should all be thanking them both.

fisherman-andy
Look at it this way. Rapala=Normark=Mora=Strikemaster. Yes their all one company or deeply affiliated. The only thing here that is not is the German Solo power heads. Clam is using what appears to be the Solo power head, Mora auger bit and lazer blades? So I fail to see this as Ford Vs Chevy debate. The sales of this new auger likely benefits both companies. Nor do I see it as a threat to Strikemaster brand. The question in hand here that everyone wants to know is: quality customer service. This is something that Clam may be able to bring to the table locally.
Matt Johnson
I know that it's certainly not Clam's intent to start a debate between brands, but rather just offer another auger option and continue to build quality products. Sometimes it's tough in the forums to stop the civil wars I'm sure we'll see more this winter but I appreciate the candor by everyone so far, we can certainly keep things fun. As far as the sales of Clam augers benefiting Strikemaster/Normark, I can assure you that Normark/Strikemaster will not benefit (financially) one bit from a Clam auger sale or production. While some of the parts might be similar, both companies are not using the same source, nor reaping any rewards from the other company's sale(s). It wouldn't make sense to pay the competition when making or selling a product, and that is definitely not the case here. Nothing is being bought from a Strikemaster/Normark brand when producing/manufacturing the Clam augers. It seems like the industry gets more and more interesting every year, LOL. Always fun to watch the forums as the seasons unfold too
