Rod Woten
We heard there was still ice in South Dakota and the perch were hungry so the crew and I loaded up and headed west. It feels pretty good to be able to say were ice fishing in April. The bite wasn't spectacular for us, but we did manage to put some nice perch and walleyes in our buckets. Also had fun reeling in some bonus smallmouth. We fished North Waubay Saturday morning and South Waubay in the afternoon. Got into a nice pod of perch on North and for a while it was non-stop. Most of the walleyes came from South Waubay on Arctic Warrior tipups. Sunday morning we fished Swan Lake, and it is definitely a lake I want to come back to. The jumbos were scattered and hard to find, but they defintely made it worth the effort. A few bonus walleye before we headed back to Iowa around lunchtime capped off the day pretty well. All in all, fishing was fairly slow for us, but the fish we caught were nice ones. The ice is holding up surprisingly well, but some of the accesses are starting to get very beat up. There was a lot of slush on Waubay still, but not enough that you have to worry about getting a quad or snowmobile stuck....just enough to make walking an effort. Conditions on Swan were much better, but the North access was pretty well impassable.

Jim Uran
Nice mixed bag, and great photos! We have a ton of ice fishing left to do here in Northern Mn, heck it didn't even make it above 32 today and I had 8 degrees at 6:30 this morning. Jarrid Houston
Same here in NW Sconnie. All lakes are still froze, and I am sure it will be weeks til we see soft water! Tight lines men!
