Fishing continues to be off to a great start in NW reaches of sconnie. Not a lot of vehicle traffic yet, but lots of snow sleds and ATVs. Lakes are showing anywhere from 8" to 15". Early ice brought great early walleyes off of tip ups and now we have switched to chasing the gills n craps on area lakes. Best walleye action can be found on the St Louis River (caught 5 tonight with a buddy). Looking forward to 2013 bein a great year of angling!!! Still walleye season over here. With the recent consistent weather with comfortable temps, we have got these walleyes patterned. It is fun to catch the big females that are putting on the feed bags. Flyers, buck shots, raps, machos, imposters, frostys, etc etc. Some times of the day these gators are not picky. I even caught one yesterday using a jig n minnow. Looking forward to getting back at her today and tomorrow, and the next day....so on and so on. Good fishN;)

Now that the regular season is over here in Wisconsin, we have switched gear and are now targeting the species I like to call Calico Bass (AKA - Crappies). This last week we worked the Spooner, WI area and after searching several different lakes we were finally able to locate a nice population of nice sized calicoes in a small 100 acre lake. These were roaming basin crappies that need to be chased in order to keep up with them. Targeting new areas was key to entice non pressured fish. Sometimes they would come in flurries, and sometimes they would be spread out over the day... Best hook ups came on waxies or crappie minnow heads. Some fish were pretty aggresive that they would of probably chased and ate about anything in the tackle box. Good FishN everyone!!!

"Report from Houston's Guide Service of Superior, WI. Walleyes have been on munch in the Twin Ports region. Can't report much on other species because we have been staying with the Walleyes. Roller coaster temps have had somewhat of an effect on the fish, but make no mistake, fish can be caught in sub-zero temps. Been catching fish in shallow waters from 5-15'. Tactics have included minnow heads tipped on jigging spoons, raps and chubby darters. On the real cold days, best action has been on full live chubs and dead stick techniques. Best times have been the 7:30-10:00 am slot, as well as the 2:30-dark. However a few have been picked off in the high noon hours as well. Ice conditions are starting to get better with the slush pockets finally starting to form up. We have ice anywhere from 12" inches to 16" inches. Some areas have vehicle travel, but most bodies of water are still to messy. Stay safe out there and goOD FiShN!

What a awesome year I get our hands wet on the big lake. We chased whitefish, smelt, browns, an lakers and found some good success! Gotta love NW Sconnie!

Off to a nice start again this year. Especially with the early ice. It is uncertain what the recent warm up will do, but we will definitely be up to speed on the current reports. Hope to see some of you at the 2nd annual Duluth Ice fishing show this coming weekend!

Like most of you, I have the itch to get out and hit the hard water.  However, it is also a great time to get out and mark spots on the GPS as potential ice spots.  Also, gives us a chance to put on the blue suit and start using our winter electronics (pending conditions are right)  Fish are snapping in the twin ports area and we will have our pulse on them all the way through hardwater.  Tight lines team,
