Hi Dave I'M new member to your Ice Team, I listened to your report this morning and was unable to make out exactly what lake you are on. I am from Regina Saskatchewan and cant wait to get out on the ice but alot of our spots are still a bit thin or open yet. Can you tell me what lake you are on again? Good luck. I look forward to your reply. Franco.

Franco,

I'm in Northern North Dakota on Lake Metigoshe, the ice condition range from 3-6 inches. Still need to be careful, I would not recommend transportation onto the ice, we are still walking 1/4 to 1/2 mile. This morning we targeting Lake Trout and the bite was tough. We made it back out on the lake this evening and the Bluegill bite was very good, we just left the lake.

Franco, I'm going to be heading to Moose Jaw over Christmas and plan to hit Buffalo Pound for perch. I've heard they are still waiting on safe ice up there but I would appreciate any advice you have for the area! If you are wanting to hit the hard water over Christmas, I'd enjoy visiting with a local! Dave is in northern ND right now and is not only fishing, but finding fish. Here is West Central MN we are still a week away from having relatively safe ice. I am just waiting for safe ice and planning my trips to Sask! Send me an email if you have any suggestions for Dec. 21-28th. T

:)) Good morning Toni, i hope you get this message, the ice is not terriffic here yet, most places are only acouple inches of ice rite now, and some lakes still have open water. To be totally honest I dont fish Buffalo Pound much at all. I spend most of my fishing hours on the Quappelle Lakes ( Echo,Pasqua,Mission) or at Last Mountain Lake. I would be honoured to hook up with you over the Holidays for a trip or 2. My hope is that the fishing will be as great as it was last year, as we never caught or saw as many Walleye and Perch caught like that before. Please let me know if you receive this message, you can call me @ cell 306 536 9818, home 306 789 8138, or email [email protected] I would like to meet you, look forward to your call or reply. For now stay safe, I am getting impatient to but I am going to wait till ice conditions improve here, we are supposed to get some colder weather over the next week or so. Then perhaps that 1st weekend in Dec. I'm going to head out to where I started last year and see what I can find. By for now, Franco. P.S I'm on vacation from Dec.22nd upto and incl. Jan.6th

When did they put Lake Trout in Metigoshe? I don't remember hearing about that.

I think if you listen to Dave's report more carefully, you'll hear that they were on a different lake in the morning for lakers and then came back to Metigoshe later in the day and caught bluegills & walleye.

Sorry, at work and didn't have time to listen to the report. I just read his post wrong. He didn't mention the other lake in the post so I guess I did a little assuming. Just want to ask because I haven't been up there in awhile and thought they might have stocked some Lakers in the lake. My bad.

Tony:

Say hello to Doug Smail for me if your family gets together with that side, he's my all time favorite UND hockey player. And when you get back PM me, since Peter got soft and moved to Florida I have had to learn on my own...now I am better at finding papermouths than he ever dreamed of. I have about a dozen lakes (other than Lida) that I have found super Crappie and Gill fishing on here in the area. Stay Safe!
