I've always preferred jigging for pike over tip-ups, but after spending more and more time with Jeff Andersen and his team I'm a firm believer that I'm missing the boat on this one. They catch MONSTER pike on tip-ups... and all the time! It's amazing what these guys know. In-fisherman looks to Jeff's group as the authority on tip-up fishing for pike. You should see Jeff's photo book of the fish they've caught... you'll just sit there and shake your head, LOL

Jeff's techniques are very specific but effective. He will be spending some time here in the forums helping those looking to land more and bigger pike this season...

The good thing about all the early sketchy ice last year was that I set up shallow for longer than usual and concentrated on the toothy critters.... really for the first time....and it was a blast! Like Matt mentioned, immediately went to the "jig", and while it was effective, did not take long to notice that the set lines were out producing.

I never ended up getting that belly hanger, but plenty of action in the 30's, and looking forward to doing it again this year...... and will certainly have to try out some of Jeff's techniques to come up with that hawg. Like Gordie mentioned, something pretty darn cool about the hand/line experience and learning how to play and especially, set these fish. Seriously, give it a try, big time rush seeing this coming up your hole.......
