Any info on GPS'?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,
I'm saving my dimes and quarters and looking to buy a quality GPS. I want to be able to download maps onto it...mark spots on a lake...and get me out of the woods. Does anyone have any knowledge on these units?
Thanks,
Mitch

Hi Doop, seen your posts on the low but didn't think to post about mine.. I got a Garmin emap a couple years ago and am very satisfied with it. They don't make them anymore but have compairable units.
It has taken me until this year to get to know it fully though, and I'm still learning. I got the road and rec map source for it and just got that thing more useful too. Had to call the company cause the coordanants didn't match up with the unit! A simple adjustment over the phone ended two years of dismay and wonderment...oh well. I just learned how to add coordanants to the thing too and that is very simple.
I just used it to mark a spot before and from the first time I used it I was impressed with that, gets you back within 10 to 50' . The first time on low late in the year when all house's were off it brought me back to the same hole.
I use it in the boat alot and so far it has not fogged up either. One suggestion when you get one you like, lable all your waypoints the same and it will be easier to find them. i.e. low --- , sd --- , waybay ---... Good luck hope this helps
