Fishing Tournament this Sat. , Jan. 24th

Not sure where everybody is located but there is a tournament at Lake Brandt near Madison this coming Sat. morning from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Shipwreck Supper Club on the East Shore.

$15.00 entry fee and all entry money is donated to the Avera Cancer Institute as a memorial to Doug Horsted, a good friend and outdoorsman who we lost to cancer four years ago. For you that didn't know Doug, he left the state with $ from his estate that was used to purchase about 240 acres in western Minnehaha County that is now a public hunting area.

We'll be giving away $75.00 cash to to heaviest fish in three different categories (walleye/bass, northern, and panfish). Plus we'll be drawing for a grand prize among all entrants present for a still unknown prize at the moment. We originally were going to give away an Eskimo II two-man flip top shack that sells for almost $300.00. Unfortunately, Eskimo sold out before we got ahold of one so our grand door prizes will be either another similar shack or else a gift certificate for approximately that much money that can be used to order one or else pick out something else for that dollar amount. (I'll update this once I know for sure).

Additionally, we've got around 40+ door prizes that we'll be giving away. 2nd heaviest fish in each category will get first pick from the door prize table and the rest will be drawn for. (We'll just draw names and the winner gets to pick from the prize table rather than us assigning prizes.) The majority of the prizes are for at least $15.00 value or more, including ice and open water fishing rods/reel, movie and restaurant certificates, tickets to Sioux Falls professional sports teams, and other miscellaneous items.

In the past, we've always had about 100 people show up so about half have walked away with a door prize worth their entry fee or more. I'd love it if we could get a higher turn out so if you are interested this Sat. come to Lake Brandt before 9:00 a.m. and register for a great fundraiser.
