Diamond lake Minnehaha

Recommended Posts

Went to Diamond Lake on Monday. I was there from 3 to 6 with no bites. Showed some fish on the vexilar but could have been anything; they would not bite. Lots of open water and I was fishing on 4 inches of ice. Jigged minnows and put out a couple of tip-ups.

were you on the south side of the road?

I went to Diamond Sunday jan 19, 03. Didn't see any open water. The ice was a foot on the north side of the road.

Fishing was very slow. Marked fish but they wouldn't bite.

Water was clear. You could see the perch.

Did you see many perch and any size to them? Any other species? I see they have a walleye size regulation at that lake of only one over a certain size so would assume that there must some biggies in there? I'm not positive, but it seems I heard of a proud angler northern coming out of that lake this past fall too but don't quote me on that.

I haven't been to that lake for many years but thought about hitting it this winter if any reports were decent. But I don't remember a road dividing the lake anywhere? Do you mean the road way at the north end of the lake that is/was submerged? On the south end, if I remember it right is a highway. Is there water on both sides of that highway?

The highway on the south end of the lake has water on both sides. Didn't see any walleyes or northerns. I have caught an 8lb northern out of there before. The perch are decent size. One went 11 inches that I caught.

Only fished from 9am to 3pm. The perch might just be a late afternoon bite. The two perch I cleaned their stomaches were full of tiny green things. Maybe they aren't hungry either?
