Waubay Report?

Guest

Recommended Posts

I've caught some nice fish on that lake in the spring and summer months, but I've never ice fished out there. Anyone know or have any advice for catching the walleye or crappie on Waubay? Any recent reports? Any information would be appreciated. I'm planning on heading out that way at least a couple of times this winter.

Check out the other posts about Webster Area.

Found these reports on the internet. Take them for what they are worth.

just got back from waubay/webster area. went to spear pike on rush lake, first day only saw 5 fish, whereas i am used to seeing 10+ on this lake. speared all 5 and they were only 3-5 lbs, so next day went to different spot, didn't do any better. so decided to hit waubay. note, as of jan 1st you can only keep 2 eyes and they have to be over 16" long. I give the DNR credit on this one, the lake is full of fish 12-15 inches, and boy do you catch a lot of them. so this will cut back on the "Meat Hunters" intake, i believe the DNR is trying to boost natural spawning for walleye's, becaue these fish are all planted, must have had a great 1 or 2 years class of fish. they haven't had any natural reproduction for walleyes and know one knows why, but the perch and northerns have no problem with natural production. caught at least 30+ walleyes in 8 hours, and limits of perch, all 10 - 12 inchers. was in 22 ft of water on the north end and the water was so clear i could have read a book off the bottom. walleyes hit all night and perch bite was bet in morning and dusk. got some to bite from 11-2. they way you fish them make the difference, a vex is a must, people 10 ft away caught 2 fish to our limit. gotta fus until you determine what works (perch colored spoons tipped w/live minnow in 1 hole and a dead stick in the other) any any other questions just ask and i will try to help.
