How do you wax the string on the bow?

Hi guys,

I am a beginner and just purchased a Matthew Halon bow last year.  However, I haven't waxed the bowstring and figured I should do it before this season starts.   My bowstring doesn't seem to have any colors on it showing where to avoid waxing it.

Can somebody explain or direct me to a video on where to avoid waxing on the bowstring of a Matthew Bow?  I know the part about rubbing the wax into the string good, but I am unsure which part of the bowstring to avoid waxing exactly.

Thank you.

Wax all the string except where the serving is as the wax can get under it and cause it to slip

You should be able to tell the serving because the string will be thicker. Serving is just a thin string wrapped around you bow string. Will be around your peep sight around your d loop

If all else fails just go to your local archery shop and ask them for some pointer about waxing and other general bow maintenance that you should be doing

hope some of this info helps though good luck!

Careful not to over do it.  Really doesn't take much.  I usually rub it on with the stick, then go over it with my fingers, then I take a hair dryer to it to melt the wax in, repeat until it is all even and no clumps or masses.  Doing it this way helps the wax mate with the string better, shouldn't have to wax near as often doing it like that.
