Kayak Bass Fishing in Brutal Winds

Hit up one of my favorite local lakes in central Wisconsin in Mid may to try for some bass in my kayak. It was tough fishing because of the brutal wind and this lake is wide open. Found all of the bass really shallow and near weeds or wood. I ended up catching four within about a half an hour all on the wind blown side of the lake. Unfortunately, it was pretty tough to fish on that side because of the wind and with storms approaching I figured I should head back closer to the launch.

I know how that goes as I bass fish from my kayak a lot too! Rain I don't mind but Wind is tricky. If the bite is slow on the lake, I will almost always try the wind blown side of the lake and more often than not it pays off with some fish. That looked like a pretty awesome lake with all of those flooded trees near the end!

I've been there for sure. Sometimes I wish I had a Hobie. Nice fish.

thanks guys! I agree about the wind blown side of the lake, especially in a kayak. This lake is great, it's a flooded cranberry reservoir so that's the reason for all the flooded timber. I've caught some absolute pigs out of here, unfortunately nothing huge yet this year!
