Hwy 81 ponds

Has anyone heard if the ice is safe, and if the perch are biting? I've never been there before, but I may try it out on Saturday. I live in Vermillion, and I'm looking for a place to fish besides Lake Yankton, and Marindahl(not sure if they have safe ice yet). Does anyone have any other ideas?

The report is that they are ice fishing and cacthing some perch. The west side of the road is the best right now. I would try Brush lake which is just north and east of the HWY 81 ponds a couple of miles. One mile south of HWY 14 on HWY 81, then go east about a mile. They have been catching perch there all fall. Low temps tonight down to zero in Sioux Falls and the highs in the teens will make the ice thick.

I was thinking of trying ice fishing myself self, but they are predicting strong winds. A clipper system is going to move through on Saturday. Good luck if you go. Please leave a report. Leave a few for me to cacth.
