Lake Mitchell

I am going to be in Mitchell for Thanksgiving and wonder if anybody knows if this lake holds walleyes and where is a good place to get some.
Looking to get away from relatives for few minutes before dinner starts.

I went to college in Mitchell and the place that I caught walleyes was by the Indian Museum. There is a bunch of rip rap along the shore with a little creek running into the lake. Let me know how you did.

Might need the ice fishing gear to catch those walleyes. Lows are predicted to be in the single digits.

Sorry I don't have any reports from Lake Mitchell at this time.

That's what I was wondering also, if it was frozen over or not and how much ice ?

I can't help you with the fishing, only played on the lake when I went to school there. Be carefull if you go out on the ice. The lake has some springs in it, every year someone dumps a vehicle/sled in that lake. Wish I could help more.....

Hey, everybody went to school there. My wife is from Mitchell, and some inlaws lives there. Anybody knows the Koch family ?

Doesn't ring a bell, but I killed a lot of brain cells in that town.;-) I'm glad they didn't have a cabelas when I was there though. I was broke the way it was.

I went to DWU and there was a couple with the last name Koch that worked on campus. Their daughter Theresa was in some of my classes.

When did you go there? Did you go to DWU or MTI. I was there from 95-98.

Hey, I grew up in Mitchell. Caught alot of walleye out of that lake. Hav'nt fished it for several years though. Also used to be known for large crappies. If I were to try for walleyes there I would fish the dam, either side of the spillway along the riprap. The old standby jig and minnow or if your working the rocks shallow try a rap. Good Luck, Tim
