BLACKJACK
Was staying overnite on a local lake last Thursday when I woke up about 3:30 thinking it was getting cold in the house. I had two windows cracked and a couple of holes open with rattle reels down so when the heater isn't running it cools down in a hurry. Got up and moved the wall thermostat up, normally the furnace takes right off, nothing. Moved it up a little bit more and then crawled back into my sleeping bag, hoping it would take off. Nothing. Was going to just add a second sleeping bag and go back to sleep until morning but then thought about my poor doggie sleeping on her cushion so got up to check it out. Turned on a stove burner and lit it -- gas was good. Dug under the bed and checked the battery alligator clamps, on, but when I removed and reclamped on, the furnace took right off!!! Back to bed. Worked fine the rest of the trip. When I got home I checked my gas tanks, I have the auto regulator that switched to the other tank automatically (I know there was another thread on this), sure enough the one it was pointing to was red/empty but the other one was ok/green. So what happened?? Why did disconnecting/connecting the battery restart the furnace??

I believe it's a safety feature built into the furnace that if it doesn't light in a certain number of tries it won't automatically try again. Did you try turning the tstat all the way off and back on to the temp you wanted? I've done that before and it came back on. When you disconnected the leads to the battery you reset the system.
