Built a prototype ice anchor last night.  You do need an auger drilled hole to use it, though.  I stole the idea from here:

I have looked high and low for these, but cannot find them.  So, I set out to make some for this season for my Clam Bigfoot. I found some 1" wide, 1/8" thick aluminum angled stock and went to work.  My version is adjustable for either a deep 6" hole or a shallow 8" hole (10" long) or a deep 8" hole (13" long).  I might drill a few more holes to get it to 11 1/2" long, too, but we'll see.  I plan to make 4) total, which meant I needed 8) 9" pieces, or 72". A 6' length of aluminum angle stock was less than $15 at Menards.  Pix show the 10" length:
